Maybe you'd like to dance, or know someone who would love to feel better taking twenty minutes to dance with someone guiding them? And, who more experienced to dance with than Dame Darcey Bussell?  Darcey has produced the most energising and inclusive programme. The Move-Assure Dance for Mental Wellbeing Programme is perfect for use by individuals, Employee Wellbeing Programs, Primary Care Networks, Social Prescribers and providers of Mental Health Services...that is, for anyone who wants to improve their mental wellbeing through movement and dance.

On Monday, I went to the launch of this programme. Darcey took us through four dances and, like magic, we were feeling good and buzzing with energy and happy vibes. The programme is grounded in scientific research confirming dance is fantastic for mental wellbeing and helps to build confidence, improve relationships, and our thinking skills. Dancing also lifts mood and, of course, improves physical wellbeing too.

Darcey created the dances and music, Lindsey Lovatt created the mental wellbeing content, and Peter Lovatt provided the scientific evidence.  Plus expert mental health clinicians, focus-group members and experts by experience helped develop this great programme. Each of the 60 sessions is about 20 minutes long, long enough to feel great, and short enough to fit into the day.

The Move-Assure Dance for Mental Wellbeing sessions are available online, which means they can be done anytime, anywhere. At the end of each session, Darcey and Peter chat about the links between science and dancing, in a feature called ‘Did you know?’.
