The World is terrifying and humans are terrified - I will continue to offer Pilates in my usual style - please come so you can focus on you, to maintain inner strength and to balance body and mind. Brutality and disaster will be affecting our minds and some of us are grieving, know loved ones trying to survive - or know people who are missing - we will Pilates on and be held by our practising together and our concentration - Please be aware I will not be discussing any of the traumas on any level over Zoom or in the Room, but offering a healing environment. Please come to release tensions and stress and to breathe completely, so that we can cope as best we can in this unfathomable world and maintain as much well-being as possible.
You know you can always contact me.
My Holiday Madeira was wonderful and we had a sumptuous week, treasured by my family and me, but now my mind is elsewhere. I publish this with no flippancy or disrespect to what is going on now - I simply want you to know that I had a good week away from routine.
The Easyjet flights, oh my they were perfect, - and the approach and landing onto this beautiful Atlantic island was a wonder in itself, the runway and fast roads are built on stilts! Having landed safely, Captain-only landings and take-offs onto Madeira, then followed one treat after another, mostly on terra firma! Mosaic pavements that make you feel you're walking on art because you are, the People - law-abiding, polite, unobtrusive and conscientious, the Food and Wines - fish, meat, vegetables with fermented Madeiran noble grapes always a sip away, and of course our heavenly retreat itself, The Savoy Palace. Every photo you see is in truth even better in reality - 360 degree views of the island and the Atlantic, roof top infinity pools, huge swimming pools, vast spaces everywhere, a divine spa, fabulous gym, restaurants galore, bars and happy hours, and live music with dreamy vocalists in the evenings. We swam the days away and danced the nights away. We loved every moment. Perfect, inviting, relaxing and enriching. There was even a team of Harris Hawks that obediently flew around the resort making sure no other birds would swoop in on the five star wonder, the lizards were welcome though, ducking and diving through the decking. If you're thinking of going yourself one day, check the weather in Funchal, not Madeira per se - Madeira has diverse microclimates and in Funchal the sun continues to shine all year round, so packing is easy, and frozen margaritas are a must - sorbet through a straw, what's not to love! Definitely book a table at il Vivaldi and feel at home with Duarte Aveiro, you will not be disappointed but simply given the best food, wine and ambience - and you'll be opposite the harbour that is being stunningly upgraded on a budget of five million euros, reopening in August 2024. Finally, my favourite read of the week - Lessons in Chemistry.
Take good care of yourselves, keep safe in our unfathomable world and see you every day to -
